Mohamed Salah insists he will always be happy at Liverpool “as long as the team keep winning” amidst the uncertainty surrounding his future at the club.
The Egpytian international’s current Anfield deal expires in the summer of 2023, sparking rumours of an exit from the club.
Over the last month there has been a lot of debate about his contract situation as he has yet to sign an extension.
Salah’s wage demands have reportedly created a stumbling block as he is rumoured to be asking for around £300,000 per week.
Liverpool don’t tend to hand out big-money contracts to players over the age of 30, with Salah reaching that mark next summer.
However, owners FSG are now said to have realised that the player’s case is a special one and now believe he deserves a huge pay packet to reflect his outstanding performances for the Reds.
A Football Insider source said that club bosses want to end the contract uncertainty with an agreement before the January window opens.
They are said to be preparing a package worth £350,000-a-week plus bonuses, that would comfortably make Salah the highest paid player on the club’s books.
And speaking to liverpoolfc.com, Salah has insisted he will always be happy at the club as long as they win.
He said: “I’m happy as long as the team keep winning.
“I’m trying to help always, to score goals and make the team win games – that’s the most important (thing).
“We have to give our best always to win something and I think we have the quality for that.
“We have a top team, so we have to push ourselves to the limit and try to win something. I’m sure everybody thinks the same.
“That’s what we need, just to keep in our head that we finish the season winning something.”
Elsewhere, Kevin Campbell has called for Liverpool to sell Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to fund a move for Adama Traore, as he is “tailor-made” for them.
“He is tailor-made for Liverpool because of the way they play,” Campbell told Football Insider.
“The lads [Sadio] Mane, [Mohamed] Salah and [Diogo] Jota have done such a great job this season. You cannot fault them.
“But, what Traore would bring is an impact off the bench.”
