Harry Maguire has offered the fans a glimpse into how his injury is progressing.

If you’ve looked, you’ll know that Manchester United’s upcoming fixture list is borderline horrendous. The Red Devils’ next five or six Premier League games are an absolute slog, while we’re also competing in Europe in between those matches too…

While it’s great news that Marcus Rashford is nearing a return from his injury, United are now struggling at the back in terms of player availability.

Raphael Varane is set to be sidelined for a few weeks, which is obviously less than ideal. Harry Maguire has also missed the last couple of Reds games with an issue – although the England international had since returned to training.

Us fans have been left twiddling our thumbs in regards to Maguire’s availability for this weekend’s game against Leicester City. Now, we’ve been given some information – straight from the man himself…

The United star seemed pretty positive about the direction in which he’s heading from injury, admitting that he’s ‘getting there’ However, Maguire would also admit he’s yet to train with the squad – which has me worried as we’re just a few days away from a massive fixture.

Check out what Harry Maguire had to say here:

“Yeah it’s getting there,” Harry told

“I still haven’t trained yet with the squad, but I am getting better, I am progressing as I should be. It is obviously a frustrating injury for me to get, but I am progressing and I will be back on the pitch soon.”

As he says, it’s never nice when you’re forced into missing games, particularly as the injury couldn’t have come at a worse time. Maguire is a massive part of this team while it also would’ve hurt him to miss out on England duty too.

The good news is that he’s heading in the right direction. I’d like to think that he’ll be fit to return within the next week or two, which is a massive positive as we’re going to need him for this brutal upcoming schedule.

Obviously, the worst thing to do would be to rush Maguire back. We’re going to need him in the long-term, so give him all the time he needs and throw him in there at the opportune moment. It’s a fine balance, but Solskjaer’s patience is usually pretty good in these situations so we have every reason to be hopeful.

Thankfully, Maguire seems largely relaxed about the situation, although he’s definitely eager to get back out there.

If Harry Maguire can’t make it, who should play in his place? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
