Predicted MUFC XI vs Atalanta (Champions League home, 2021/22) – Old Trafford Faithful

Man United are looking at the possibility of moving for Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer filled some more positional needs this summer transfer window, signing a top-class winger and bringing in defensive reinforcement.

However, one gaping hole still remains; defensive midfield. It’s already emerged as an area of concern with the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay consistently throwing up a mixed bag of performances.

Now, Solskjaer has seemingly identified Wilfred Ndidi as his number one option to fill that void.

The story comes from Fichajes, who name the classy 24-year-old as United’s ‘clear target’ to reinforce the ‘pivot’ position. The report adds that this is a spot in the team that has given Solskjaer some ‘headaches for several seasons now’.

It’s suggested Ndidi is one of the top performing Premier League players in his position. A statement I definitely agree with. Also, after Leicester City’s slow start to the campaign, Ndidi is starting to think of a way out of the King Power.

Fichajes reckon that United have been in touch with some clubs over signing a new midfielder, with the position described as ‘critical’. So-much-so that the Reds could even make a second signing in that position if needed.

Ndidi would be an excellent fit. He enjoys doing the dirty work. He covers every single blade of grass for the cause. United would be a far better side with someone like the Nigerian in it.

However, Leicester City aren’t going to sell their key midfielder easily, or cheaply for that matter. The Glazers will have to dig deep to get this deal done, given Ndidi’s best years are likely still to come.

Reds fans will get a good look at Ndidi this weekend when United take on The Foxes, assuming the midfielder is fit to play.

Would a Man United move for Ndidi make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
