Raphael Varane has given Man United a real worry ahead of a key run of fixtures…
Manchester United Football Club will welcome back three Nations League champions this week. Both Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial came through Les Bleus’ latest round of international fixtures unscathed.
However, that wasn’t the case for their compatriot, Raphael Varane. In the final, our centre-back had to be substituted just before half-time At the time, it wasn’t clear what the issue was, though United’s summer signing looked in real discomfort as he walked off the field.
In the aftermath, we’d learn that it was indeed a groin problem Varane picked up. Thanks to Dr Rajpal Brar for the analysis, who explained that United had been dealt the blow to their key star.
Typically, if it’s a grade one groin strain, which is likely to be the case, the timeframe for return is typically 1-2 weeks. If a grade two, it’s an extra week or so on top of that. The worst-case scenario is a grade three which is a complete tear – though the Dr explains that looks unlikely, given the way Varane walked off the field unaided.

Obviously, this is a less than ideal situation for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is already feeling the pressure after a poor run of results.
United go into the part of their season where tricky games are coming thick and fast. The Red Devils play Leicester City, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Chelsea over the next six Premier League fixtures. Throw in some huge Champions League games and it’s a massively crucial portion of our term.
If Varane is missing for any prolonged period, obviously, our task gets much harder. Don’t forget Harry Maguire is still out sidelined at the moment, too. That leaves Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly as our first-choice centre-backs at this moment. It goes without saying, that’s far from our best combination…
The good news for the ex-Real Madrid man is that he’s coming back with a winners medal around his neck. That’s ought to be huge for his personal confidence!
