Ramsdale and Tomiyasu are two gems of Arsenal recruitment

With Mikel Arteta being voted as the Premier League manager of the month for September with a record of 3-0 at Arsenal, the boss was quick to give credit to the entire team for his own achievement. This is the type of sentiment that we have come to expect of Arteta, but on this occasion he was quite right: his team got him back into this season and he got his team back into this season.

The signings of Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United and Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna before the summer transfer window closed is appearing more and more influential by the match-week. They have been so good at helping to shore up the back and the Japanese defender, in particular, has really brought so much to the right side of the pitch between his aerial showings, defensive skills, and ambition.

These two have unlocked further the great talent along that backline like Gabriel Magalhaes, the new Ben White, and the reliable Kieran Tierney on the left side of the pitch. When Hector Bellerin comes back from Real Betis, it will be fascinating to see how he reacts to Tomiyasu, and to see if he can compete with him for playing time or if he will bow out and seek to leave for good.

Yet this is of little significance right now. For Arsenal to continue to improve and challenge competition of increasingly difficult natures, these two will have to continue to play as they have been since they came to north London.

Aaron Ramsdale and Takehiro Tomiyasu at Arsenal: The start of something beautiful where the next run of games will be continue that

Everyone that Arteta is bringing in is very young, and this is no coincidence. The manager, young himself, wants to make Arsenal more dynamic going forward, and he believes that he must revitalize the club by bringing players in and up through the ranks. These players, in his mind, can be at Arsenal for years and act like the players that Arsene Wenger promoted, developed and purchased for his own team across the years.

Ramsdale, Tomiyasu, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Martin Odegaard, Eddie Nketiah, Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe, Folarin Balogun, Kieren Tierney, Ben White, Gabriel Magalhaes, and others, are all with the team and are all capable right now, with room to grow much more as well.

This plan is visible now, and it is showing that it might not be so crazy after all. If results can be built upon and players can continue to feel comfortable in their development and growth in the process, then the sky is literally the limit for this group of gentlemen, young and old.

When Arsenal comes back from the second international break of the season, they’ll have some winnable matches against some teams that have talent, yet haven’t yet put it altogether. Crystal Palace, with Wilfried Zaha and Odsonne Edouard, are next with Patrick Vieira and Palace looking to knock off Arsenal and climb up the Premier League table at their expense. Ramsdale and Tomiyasu will once again play starring roles.

The Arsenal connection can’t be missed, as Vieira is a legend of the club, and even wished to coach the team at one point; should it become open again at some point after Arteta, Vieira’s name will surely reemerge. But in the meanwhile, Arsenal will have to take three points from a tough Palace team with weapons and some hope with their talented players and thoughtful, championship-focused boss.

Should Arsenal be able to muster nine to ten points plus another Carabao Cup win in the coming weekn then fans should be happy with the progress. Now with a cemented group at the back, one featuring Ramsdale and Tomiyasu front and center, these goals can be achieved.

In order for the team to play well across this time period, both Ramsdale and Tomiyasu will have to continue their stellar form. Arsenal are improving and the rest of the team will have to play better than they did against Brighton and Graham Potter to have a chance at taking points in the upcoming matches. But this squad of Gunners has immense talent, a mixture of veterans and the aforementioned youth, plus a coach who wishes to innovate and is apparently being given the time to do so. #COYG
