Liverpool are willing to cash in on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – but only for the right price.

The midfielder has slipped down the pecking order at Anfield and is now being linked with a move away.

Arsenal, the club whom Oxlade-Chamberlain left in 2017, are looking to bring him back to the Emirates.

Liverpool will not stand in the 28-year-old’s way if he does want to seek pastures new after over four years on Merseyside.

However, having paid £35m for his services, they will only move him on for a fair amount given his quality.

The Reds have been shrewd operators in the transfer market since Jurgen Klopp’s arrival.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could leave Liverpool in search of more game time

He and Michael Edwards have ensured they got top dollar for players like Christian Benteke and Danny Ings and will now look to do likewise with Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The midfielder however is several years older than when they signed him and the Gunners do not have the financial might of some of their rivals.

Arsenal are weighing up a January swoop with Mikel Arteta keen on reuniting with a man he played alongside in north London.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has helped Liverpool claim Premier League and Champions League glory during his time with the club.

However, as Curtis Jones enjoys more and more game time the 35-cap England midfielder feels as if a fresh challenge might be necessary.

He currently has a £125,000-a-week contract that runs until 2023, but an exit could still be achieved.

The Sun report that Arsenal would like to bring him in on a six month loan deal with the option to buy in the summer.

Arteta bought in a host of young players recently as he aims to lower the average age of his squad.

He is now weighing up whether Oxlade-Chamberlain would compliment his group with several youngsters continuing to develop.

The midfielder has opened up on his injury struggles, which he claims have helped him evolve.

Mikel Arteta is eyeing a reunion with his former teammate

He told Liverpool’s website : “I’ve learned a lot over the years and obviously had the big knee injury that was my first sort of surgery, so that changes your perspective on everything.

“I’d say I am slightly different or just more mature, or more experienced, but I still feel like I’m the same character. The way I try to play football and express myself, that’s not changed and I wouldn’t really want that to change too much.”

He also added: “In terms of myself, I don’t remember a consistent enough spell where I felt like I was on fire. I think it was a good season in terms of what I’d come back from to get back to that level and play and be back away with England and stuff as well. But I knew there was more to come, more goals and just more consistent performances.”
